Ready! Set! Reset!

They told me I HAD to wear a gown so I did. As you can see I spent a few days in the hospital this week. I really don't want to go through that again...ever. I had all the classic CHF symptoms.I was having lots of trouble trying to catch my breath if I got up and around at all. Extreme fatigue had set in and then I started having chest pains. They weren't bad - just annoying. They were enough to wake me up at night - I'll have to admit a little bit scary. And the worst part is I just kept trying to run. I wanted to keep up with my schedule and plan. I kept thinking I'd feel better. Boy am I paying now. I went in with chest pains but because of my past and my failed stress tests they wouldn't let me go even though my cardiac enzymes were okay. I ended up having a couple more tests on my heart. Actually, my heart is not in real bad shape in spite of my stupidity and stubbornness. So I dodged the bullet on this one. My cardiologist wanted to be sure I hadn'...

Lesson Learned...I Hope

Okay - so I have to suck it up and admit that I overdid it yesterday. I actually made several mistakes that I have to correct going forward. I know I should not have run 3 days in a row and  even if  running 3 days in a row was okay - I shouldn't have gone for 6 and a half miles. Live and learn. I've been doing a lot of research about congestive heart failure and one of the signs of overdoing it is actually how you feel the next day. Well, I could tell yesterday afternoon I had OD'd on running. I did recoup pretty good though. However, today has been horrible. I am basically exhibiting all those  dreaded symptoms of CHF. I'm out of breath, have lots of chest pains and feel exhausted. I don't think I realized how much better I've been feeling overall; but it all comes back to me now for sure. With this new information I have a few things to work on. First of all, I need to get a solid marathon training plan instead of just flying by the seat of my pants. I wi...

Recovery Days? Oh, I get it now!

Seriously, I have been training and running all along why in the world would I think I would need a couple of recovery days ? Well, mostly because I can barely walk, that's why! lol! Actually, over all I did well and am not too sore, except for my thighs. I am sure that is coming because of the extra miles and pushing it so hard the last two miles! So today is another recovery day. Tomorrow I will try to run a short, easy couple of miles to start loosening back up. I have to get moving because I have a 5K this Saturday! (not planning on setting any PR's there for sure!) It's funny how we can think after a big race or a big trial of some sort that we can just get up the next day and bounce back into normal. There are so many things that can occur in a day and we can take them in stride - at least for awhile. But there will be a slow down day. It's a time to stop and reflect on what has happened so we can learn from it... When there is a big happening in our lives...
